DA would like to acknowledge all those participating in our offer to donate to the Victorian Bushfire Relief, through the Red Cross Appeal and directly to affected families. DA matched its staff fund-raising efforts dollar-for-dollar and conducted a campaign to donate from the proceeds of each book ordered in the last week of February by libraries and the academic sector. At time of writing, the grand total was nudging $15,000. We also commend to libraries the industry initiative convened by ALIA that has already appointed a disaster recovery co-ordinator to work with local libraries in rebuilding communities. The local library is the perfect community resource for social networking and local librarians are ideally placed to see that children and families receive the reading material they need.
